The final goal for this course in art photography will be to create a small portfolio of 12 to 20 images that support your original idea and articulate it clearly both technically and conceptually.
In this class participants will focus on the concept of “Hope”, this may be hope lost, hope for the future, or ways that hope exists in the present time. To be clear you will not be asked to take pictures of hope, but to create images about hope. There should be layers within your images, and larger narratives created by their relationship to one another.
The concept of Hope does not negate technical feedback, it only creates a structure that forces participants to interpret their idea and rethink how and why they are taking a picture while they make the project.
Towards the end of the workshop participants will end up choosing between 12 and 20 final images that will posted online as a finished project.
The goal of the workshop is to help the participants understand how to edit for a series, a portfolio or an exhibition, as well as how to choose images that support each other in your concept.
