Town of the honor

The Russian town of Sevastopol became the territory of Ukraine by joke of Khrrushev in 1965. The city, that was a home to Russia Naval forces since ever is now used as the headquarters of both the Ukrainian Naval Forces and Russia's Black sea fleet. the debate over the status of the city still continues almost 20 years later. 70% of town citizens are Russians by nationality. There is a
The unique geographic location and navigation conditions of the city's harbors make Sevastopol a strategically important naval point. It is also a turist destination, mainly for visitors from the CIS countries.
Though most of Sevastopol citizens have jobs from the Russian Naval felt they would likely live without political conflict around the city. BY agreement between Ukraine and Russia presidents the terms of Naval stay prolonged for 25 years more.

Buffer zone

The latest Europian war, that took place in Georgia in August 2008, had lasted for only five days. But the aftermath of these five days resulted in more than thirty thousands displaced people, created new borders and finally turned former neighbours into the enemies.
Gori disctrict, the territory of apple gardens, was announced a Buffer zone a week after the war had ended. Neither NGOs nor Georgian police were allowed to enter the security zone. Soon, this area became a ghost place, even those, who survived the bombardment during the war, were running from beatings, looting and arson by marauding Ossetian militia. Still, some have remained, either too old to move or to protect their houses from being destroyed. For more than two months these people lived in permanent fear, without electricity and drinking water.
One year after the war, about 10,000 have not yet returned to their homes in the former Buffer zone, owing to the destruction of their homes and continuing security concerns. People say the war is still there, in sounds of shooting from the border, in mines that still lie in the fields, in impossibility to see the relatives, who are now on another side of the border. Once the wealthiest part of Georgia, now the district of Gori has become a land of despair and poverty. Five days of war was enough to destroy the lives for next tens of years.

Weber' application

This year I started a project about Caspian sea, which aims to explore the relations between people, who live along the sea, and environment. The sea has an uncertain status, thus the split of its territory and responsibility for environment is also uncertain. From five countries that own the Caspian territory, four are the former Soviet republics and still, people have the special attitude of «using» the natural sources, without understanding the consequences. Along the Caspian territory you can find different religions, such as Buddhism, Islam and Christianity, different style of life and landscapes. But the attitude to the sea as well as dependence from the sea is the same.

I have spent already a month in Azerbaijan, travelling along the sea and trying to avoid capturing actions, but the feelings. With this project I want to avoid the photojournalist's approach and concentrate on the concept of the story.

Editorial photography application

"Isolation".

I'm going to start the project about isolation of asylum seekers who live in the special camps in Eastern Germany. People who escape from their home country to Western Europe hope to find peace and freedom here. But after arrival they are placed in housing buildings with hundreds of another asylum seekers, not permitted to work, not allowed to leave the area. Once having been searching for freedom people find themselves trapped for many years in remote asylum homes, isolated from society and any kind of integration into the society, almost isolated from life.

I want to create the narrative consisted of still images and portraits together and with both to tell the story of isolation and explore its consequences for the people.

Photographic Goal:

My photographic aim is to be able to create a powerful photography that touches and tells at the same time. To be able to show the movements of soul and to find my unique documentary language for that.

Goal for this workshop:

I would love to go through the process of story creation being advised by some of the most respectful editors. From the process of planning to the final proposal to media. I definitely need to improve editing and following the line in the project as well as the marketing it.
