I am a documentary photographer and graduate student based in Austin, TX and attending the University of Texas.
My work has been exhibited from Oslo to Tokyo and is currently in the permanent collections of multiple museums, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. My work has also won awards at CPOY and PDN Faces.
I have been accepted into and participated in the Magnum Education, Oslo and Eddie Adams Workshops (Barnstorm XXI).
I believe in showing the best and worst of humanity with the firm belief that man will strive for the best while taking action to correct the worst. I am passionate about photography and am constantly pushing myself to discover new things. I am certain I will be a student for life!
Nathan Huf suffers from Trisomy 13, a rare genetic disorder that kills 80% of its victims before they turn 1 month old. Those that survive are faced with severe mental and physical disabilities. Nathan suffers from blindness, a host of incapacitating physical disabilities, and has the intellect of an 8 month old child. Despite this, he was unanimously voted homecoming king of Granger High School...a school he does not even attend.
While it is rare for Trisomy 13 children to see their teens, Nathan recently turned 21, making him the oldest known male in the world living with Trisomy 13.
Standing by his side for every step has been his mother Lillie. Epitomizing the beauty of a mother's love, she has gladly sacrificed her life's dreams for the youngest of her 6 boys.
This is Nathan and Lillie's story...
