OBJECTIVE REALITY

Kudrinka is an amateur folk dance collective lead by Irina and Alexey Salnikov who are one of the few members of the troupe aged over 35. Among the great number of Moscow's world dance collectives, Kudrinka is one of the few who feature and specialise on Russian folk dance. During Soviet years Russian folk dance came to be associated with official propaganda and one wouldn't expect young people to be interested in it, nevertheless the average age of its members is 20 years. Most of the dancers started with Kudrinka in their early childhood. The home for the troupe is a Stalin era "Palace of Culture" in central Moscow where the troupe started back in 1975 and that doesn't seem to have changed much since.
