OBJECTIVE REALITY

For the last weeks I’ve been living in Moscow. At first I thought that the best word to describe this city is market... In the subway and at almost every street there were people selling small unusefull things... and always that mix of different smells - gasoline, bear, food and who knows what else. And of course - Moscow is a capital of lonely and sad dogs. Usually they are quite big and a bit scary, but at the same time I almost can feel their hunger and sadness. Sometimes I feel that some of the people are like these dogs. However these are the first impressions - with time passing I started to notice so much fun and amazing things around here. And I really started to love this city - in a way. This small and maybe unpretentious project is my investigation of Moscow. Things I found amazing and sometimes a bit strange. I didn't choose any specific place and also didn't plan any shooting days. I was simply carrying my camera around - whenever I had to leave my apartment. So, it was almost like a game, because I never knew what would attract my attention. At the same time by studying a place you can tell a lot about the people living in this environment.
Michael Regnier about this assignment

I really enjoyed looking through the images and especially reading your funny captions! It's a most unusual perspective you give on Moscow with your images and I really like your perceptiveness of the little things that make different environments/cities/countries/spaces so very different from one another in so many little ways! I'm hugely curious about different urban landscapes so really enjoyed looking through your "box full of playful, inventive strategies". I guess you are not originally from Moscow so the city is still 'foreign' for you and you are probably subconsciously constantly 'comparing' this new environment with other places that are more familiar for you...? This is really one of the most innovative shoots on this last assignment since you have just, as you say, decided to go out without a plan and play a game, capturing little things that caught your attention. Also challenging some of the notions that are associated with certain things was a funny and cynical way of capturing modern Russia. My favorite image is the view from the psychotherapist’s window with your caption! Anyway - really nice work!
