    Art Residency Program IZOLYATSIA

    In the summer of 2011, this project will unite in Donetsk eight international photographers, selected after an open-call application, for a month long residency. Under the curatorial guidance of Boris Mikhailov, the photographers are invited to embark on a creative journey, where they are to retrace and reexamine the city’s aesthetic field, giving it their own qualification.

    Artists selected for the program are invited to live in Donetsk, Ukraine, for any 4 weeks from 4 July to 15 August, 2011. During the residency, artists will have an opportunity to attend a masterclass and have their portfolios reviewed by Boris Mikhailov. In return, each artist-in-residence will have to hold a one-day masterclass for local photographers.

    All artists working in photography and related media are eligible to apply. Applications will be accepted until April 15, 2011. Artists-in-residence will be chosen by April 25, 2011.

    PHE OjodePez Award for Human Values

    Participation in the PHE OjodePez Award is open to photographers from all over the world who carry out a work of documentary photography in which human values such as solidarity, ethics, dedication, or justice stand out.

    The winner will be awarded with a 3.000 ? prize, the winning work could be the object of an exhibition and will be published along with the finalists in a special issue that OjodePez devotes each fall to the award. Participating photographers can register on www.ojodepez.org/premio and submit their portfolios before May 1, 2011.

    The W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography 2011

    The W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography is presented annually to a photographer whose past work and proposed project, as judged by a panel of experts, follows the tradition of W. Eugene Smith's concerned photography and dedicated compassion exhibited during his 45-year career as a photographic essayist.

    For 2011, the amount of the grant will be $30,000. An additional $5,000 in fellowship money will be dispersed, at the discretion of the jury, to one or more finalists deemed worthy of special recognition. Grants will be presented in a ceremony held in New York City in October.
